The field is down to just six teams at the SaskTel Tankard in Whitewood.
Matt Dunstone’s rink out of the Highland Curling Club is looking to repeat as Provincial Champions and represent the province at the 2022 Tim Hortons Brier in Lethbridge.
Dunstone has used several come-from-behind victories on his path to winning the ‘A’ event. After trailing 4-1 to Colton Flasch in the ‘A’ event final, Dunstone earned an 8-5 victory to punch his ticket to the play-offs.
After Hartung was dealt a nasty 9-1 blow by Flasch’s rink in the ‘A’ event semi-final, they have gone on to be perfect ever since.
Hartung has now won three straight games respectively to win the ‘B’ event, notching an 8-7 victory over Kelly Knapp’s rink in the ‘B’ Final.
Dunstone and Hartung will face off for the first time in this year’s Tankard for a spot in Sunday’s final in the 1-2 page playoff game. Two more playoff spots are yet to be determined.
The ‘C’ event comes down to two separate games with the winner’s moving on to complete the 4-team playoff field.
Flasch’s team out of the Nutana Curling Club in Saskatoon will take on Ryan Deis’ gritty team from the Fox Valley Curling Club. Meanwhile, Jason Jacobson is another rink out of the Nutana staying alive. Jacobson goes toe-to-toe with Knapp for the final playoff spot up for grabs.
The ‘C’ Final winners will be determined Saturday afternoon with the 1-2 & 3-4 page playoff games going Saturday night.
The 12-team tournament that began earlier on Wednesday winds down tomorrow with the semi-final and final taking place.
