Extreme cold warnings have followed in the wake of an Alberta Clipper that battered Saskatchewan on Monday.
Environment Canada issued the warnings for most areas of the province Tuesday afternoon, saying “a prolonged period of very cold wind chills is expected.”
The weather service said temperatures around -30 C are to combine with winds of 15 to 20 kilometres per hour to produce wind chills near -40 C overnight across most of southern Saskatchewan.
Regina and Saskatoon were included in the warnings.
“Some reprieve from the cold is likely during the day on Wednesday but extreme cold is likely to return for some areas on Wednesday night into Thursday, especially over eastern portions of the province,” the warning said.
“The extreme cold is likely to ease by Thursday for southwestern regions and by late week into the weekend for eastern regions.”
