Something a lot of us do on cold days contributed to a garage fire in Saskatoon on Saturday.
Shortly before midnight, fire crews responded to a fire on the 2500 block of Clarence Avenue South.
Three fire engines, one ladder truck and one rescue unit arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the detached garage.
The fire was brought under control within 15-minutes, but not before the building suffered heavy damage.
The fire department says the fire was accidental due to a block heater cord being plugged into an extension cord.
“The cord had been pinched from the hood being closed and compressing it and fire originated in the hood area of the vehicle,” said a release.
Damage from this fire is estimated to be $60,000.
