A teenaged boy has been charged with first-degree murder in the killing of Jennifer Hendry in Air Ronge.
The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit said in a release the boy was arrested Wednesday, but the Mounties didn’t release his age as they said it could identify him. He can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Hendry, 46, was killed at a home in Air Ronge on Saturday. Police don’t believe she knew the accused.
The teen also is charged with robbery. He’s to make his next court appearance in La Ronge on Jan. 27.
“Information received from community members was pivotal to this investigation,” Insp. Joshua Graham of the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit said in a media release.
“This incident has left Jennifer’s loved ones — and the Air Ronge area — grieving. We’re grateful the community was willing to assist our investigators, who have been working tirelessly on this case and have now arrested and charged the person believed to be responsible.”
