Saskatoon police used a stun gun on the wrong person while breaking up an altercation Saturday night.
Officers were called to an apartment on Luther Place, close to the intersection of Eighth Street and Circle Drive, at about 8:30 p.m.
They had received a call that a woman was either drunk or high and assaulting a child inside the apartment.
The woman who made the call was also inside. She stayed on the phone with police and in that time the officer on the call heard a struggle in the background.
When officers showed up, police said both women were still “actively involved in a physical struggle.”
Officers broke down the door to gain entry into the apartment. Once inside, an officer fired their stun gun, hitting the woman who had made the call. She was taken to hospital for treatment.
A 32-year-old woman has been charged with assault. The other woman, 59, is not facing charges.
The department is reviewing the use of the stun gun.
