The number of active COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan has fallen below 1,000 for the first time since mid-August.
There were 998 active cases reported Monday, the fewest since 958 active cases were announced Aug. 14.
The total announced Monday included 210 active cases in the Saskatoon region and 160 in the Regina zone.
The Ministry of Health reported 73 new cases, 121 recoveries and one death.
A person in the 80-and-over age group from the south-central region of the province is the 912th Saskatchewan resident to die due to COVID.
There were 152 COVID patients in Saskatchewan hospitals, an increase of two from Sunday’s update. Of the hospitalizations, 35 were in intensive care.
There also were eight Saskatchewan residents being treated in Ontario ICUs.
A look at the numbers
The new cases were reported in the north-central (13), Saskatoon (11), south-central (11), Regina (10), southeast (10), central-east (four), northwest (three), southwest (two) and far northeast (one) regions. The hometowns of eight cases are pending.
The seven-day average of new COVID cases was 105, or 8.8 per 100,000 people.
According to the government, 47 per cent of the new cases who were eligible to be vaccinated had received two shots.
The new infections were detected in 1,137 tests.
To date, there have been 80,413 cases in Saskatchewan and 78,503 recoveries.
There were 1,039 doses of COVID vaccines delivered in the province, including 265 first shots and 774 second shots.
To date, 1,712,677 shots have been given in the province and 828,300 people have received two doses.
