The next time a moose wants to hoof it into Sylvia Fedoruk School in Saskatoon, there shouldn’t be any confusion.
The school has put up a “moose crossing” sign at its front entrance.
Five-year-old William Coates was in the before-school program on Nov. 4 when the female moose crashed through a window and plopped down right in the middle of the classroom.
No one was hurt during the incident, but some of the kids were pretty shaken up when they had to escape outside past the moose and through the broken window.
The moose was tranquilized and and safely returned to the wild.
On Tuesday, conservation officers and Saskatoon police visited Sylvia Fedoruk School for a little lesson on what a conservation officer is and what they do and to share some tips on what to do if you encounter wildlife in the city.
The kids were given a stuffed moose souvenir to recognize that day they won’t likely soon forget.
