Three men have been arrested in Meadow Lake after a woman was held against her will Monday — an incident that resulted in a three-hour standoff.
The Meadow Lake RCMP said officers responded at about 1 p.m., to a call about a woman being held in a house by three armed men.
When officers arrived, the men barricaded themselves inside the house. Five nearby schools went into hold-and-secure mode as a precaution.
RCMP officers got into the house just after 4 p.m., and rescued the woman. They also arrested three men.
The men were charged with offences including forcible confinement, resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer and uttering threats. They also were arrested on outstanding warrants.
“This was a dangerous situation, but we were able to quickly gather the specialized Saskatchewan RCMP resources necessary to rescue the female from harm’s way,” Sgt. Stephen Hurst of the Meadow Lake RCMP said in a media release.
“I realize the anxiety caused by a large police presence in the city and the hold-and-secures at the schools. I thank the public for following directions and giving us the space needed to safely resolve this incident.”
