Latest COVID update Nov. 6: Active cases drop, three deaths, 199 in hospital

Active COVID cases continue to drop in Saskatchewan.

In its daily update, the province reported 173 new cases and 212 recoveries, dropping the active total to 1,745.

Two people were admitted to hospital, raising the number of COVID patients to 199. Of those, 51 are in the ICU, with an additional 21 people in Ontario hospitals.

Three new deaths were also reported.

According to the Ministry of Health:

• As of November 6th, there are 173 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 78,567 reported cases
• The new cases are located in the Far North West (4), Far North East (13), North West (13), North Central (12), North East (1), Saskatoon (28), Central West (3), Central East (23), Regina (44), South Central (8) and South East (18) zones and six (6) new cases have pending residence information
• Twelve (12) cases with pending residence information were assigned to the Far North West (from November 4 (1)), North West (from September 21 (2), October 11 (2), October 14 (1), November 4 (2)), North Central (from November 3 (1), November 4 (2)), and Regina (from October 15 (2)) zones
• Two (2) SK residents tested out-of-province were added to the cases counts in the Central East (from November 3 (1)), and South Central (from November 4 (1)) zones
• Eleven (11) cases have been deemed to be non SK residents and removed from the Regina (from September 13 (1)), and ten (10) have pending locations (from August 27 (1), September 2 (1), September 4 (1), September 5 (1), September 6 (1), September 9 (2), September 17 (1), September 18 (1), September 21 (1)) case counts
• 78,567 cases are confirmed
  • 19,193 cases are from the North area (8,529 North West, 7,867 North Central, 2,797 North East)
  • 18,902 cases are from the Saskatoon area
  • 15,448 cases are from the Regina area
  • 9,593 cases are from the South area (2,112 South West, 2,857 South Central, 4,624 South East)
  • 9,199 cases are from the Far North area (4,309 Far North West, 541 Far North Central, 4,349 Far North East)
  • 5,652 cases are from the Central area (1,400 Central West, 4,252 Central East)
  • 580 cases have pending residence information
• 1,745 cases are considered active and 75,956 cases are considered recovered
• More than one-quarter (29.5%) of new cases are in the age category of 11 or under
• More than one-half (52.5%) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated
• As of November 6th, a total of 199 individuals are hospitalized, including 148 inpatient hospitalizations and 51 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 199 patients, 138 (69.3%) were not fully vaccinated.
• In addition to SK ICUs, there are 21 residents in out-of-province ICUs. As these patients are receiving care out of province, this number is not included in the hospitalization counts in dashboard. Since yesterday’s report, there has been one repatriation.
• As of November 4, 2021 one (1) death presumably not related to COVID-19 was removed from total death counts
• Three (3) new deaths reported today. 866 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.1%.
• 1,238,491 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of November 4, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,044,786 tests performed per million population. The national rate was 1,228,241 tests performed per million population.
• The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 154 (12.8 new cases per 100,000)
