The Humboldt Broncos have registered the team’s logo with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office and officially trademarked the 2002 design.
In a statement, the team said companies and vendors began using the logo and name following the deadly 2018 crash involving the team’s bus and a transport truck.
“The Humboldt Bronocs want to reaffirm its control of the logo and the brand, and therefore, trademarking was undertaken to accomplish this goal,” the statement read.
Anyone wanting to use the logo or team name now for things like shirts, decals or signs will have to submit a written request to the Humboldt Broncos organization.
The board will review submissions before making a decision on a case-by-case basis.
