An outbreak has been declared at another public school in Saskatoon, the second outbreak in less than a week.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) declared the outbreak Tuesday afternoon at wâhkôhtowin School.
The school division has been notified about the outbreak and the information has been shared with the school’s staff, students and community.
Ten confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been connected to wâhkôhtowin School since school began on Sept. 1, 2021. A release from Saskatoon Public Schools (SPS) said classes are continuing as scheduled.
Late last week, SPS announced a previous outbreak at Fairhaven School. One classroom in the school was moved to online learning.
A total of 123 positive COVID-19 cases have been confirmed at public schools in Saskatoon since the start of the school year, in 42 of the division’s 61 schools.
“The safety of our students and staff members is our priority. The safety protocols our schools have in place including mandatory masking and enhanced cleaning are critical to reducing the risk of transmission,” read the release shared by SPS marketing and communications manager Veronica Baker.
The division encouraged all eligible students, staff and parents or caregivers to get vaccinated against COVID-19 to help protect their school communities.
