A call about a fatal crash led first responders on a wild goose chase Saturday — and now it has led to charges against a 21-year-old man.
On Saturday at about 1 a.m., Ahtahkakoop RCMP got a call about a two-vehicle collision on the Mistawasis First Nation. The caller said there were multiple people hurt and two people were dead.
Officers from the Ahtahkakoop and Blaine Lake RCMP detachments, paramedics, STARS personnel and local residents responded and tried to find the crash scene. When they couldn’t find it, the RCMP starting looking into the call.
As a result, a 21-year-old man from the Mistawasis First Nation has been charged with public mischief and obstructing a police officer. The man made his first court appearance in Prince Albert on Monday.
