Police are looking for witnesses after an RCMP vehicle was hit by gunfire on the Mosquito First Nation, 30 kilometres south of Battleford.
In a media release Friday, the Mounties said officers from the Battlefords detachment responded Tuesday at about 10:15 p.m., to a call about two people with guns on the Mosquito First Nation.
While police were investigating, a gun was fired from a car at one of the RCMP vehicles while an officer was driving. The shot hit the cruiser’s hood, but there weren’t any injuries.
The suspect car was a dark blue 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. Officers followed it to a home on the Mosquito First Nation, but the car’s occupants fled.
Officers blanketed the area, executed a search warrant at the home and seized the car.
The Mounties are looking to speak to anyone who may have seen the Chevrolet Cruze on Tuesday evening. Anyone with information is asked to call their local RCMP detachment at 310-RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
