Saskatoon’s eye in the sky is being credited for a happy ending in the search for a missing toddler north of the city.
On Monday night, the Saskatoon Air Support Unit was called by the RCMP to assist in the search for a three-year-old child in the bush near Rosthern.
According to police, the little boy — who wasn’t wearing any clothes — wandered away from his home after dark.
Sgt. Todd Horsley appeared on the Brent Loucks Show on Thursday. He said the plane’s infrared technology is instrumental in searches as it allows officers to see objects in the dark.
“Once we arrived on scene, my tactical flight officer started searching the area and just over 30 minutes later located the little guy in some bushes along the edge of field, a kilometre and half from his home,” Horsley said. “Then he guided a ground unit to the child’s location. ”
The boy was found unharmed and reunited with his parents.
We have captured a lot of bad people and saved many lives of vulnerable people but none as vulnerable as this little guy. Definitely a book mark in the life of @SPSAir1.
