A 53-year-old woman is recovering in hospital following a collision on Highway 41 on Wednesday.
According to police, the driver of the car crossed the centre line into the path of a semi-trailer loaded with steel.
The driver of the semi swerved to avoid a head-on collision, but the car sideswiped the trailer and sustained severe damage.
Saskatoon firefighters were called around 4:15 p.m. and used hydraulic cutting tools to free the woman from her vehicle.
Police said alcohol was not a factor.
A collision analyst was on scene until 11 p.m. before the scene was cleared and traffic restrictions were lifted early Thursday.
It was the second serious crash in as many days in that area.
On Tuesday, a 22-year-old woman was killed in a crash at the intersection of highways 41 and 5.
