It’s possible you hadn’t heard of Ideas Inc., before the August city council meeting in Saskatoon.
But remember the name — it’s the new facilitator for the old Farmers Market building in the Riversdale neighbourhood.
In an interview with the Brent Loucks Show on Wednesday morning, executive director Depesh Parmar said the company is a business incubator, which provides a platform for start-ups to grow into successful businesses.
“We achieve this by providing space, business coaching, mentorship and a community of like-minded entrepreneurs to surround yourself with,” he explained.
The vision for the space is much like the Saskatoon Farmers Market, just expanded over six days. Nothing is set in stone as of yet, Parmar explained, with details needing to be ironed out before we hear more solidified plans.
He did explain what the hope is, and what things will likely look like at the site in the near future.
“The proposed vision for the Farmers Market building is an animated public facility with vendor stalls, a food hall made up of local food and beverage producers and dedicated farmers market days,” he explained.
Ideas Inc. has been in operation since 2010. Parmar said the company has helped out hundreds of small businesses during that time.
