North Battleford RCMP are trying to find the owner of an urn that was found behind a business on the Highway 16 bypass in North Battleford.
On May 27, police were contacted by someone who had found the urn about a week earlier.
It contains ashes and is now being kept safe at a funeral home.
Police officers have been working since late May to find the owner. They have spoken to the person who found the urn and have looked at security footage from where it was found.
They’ve also checked police records for reports of lost urns and contacted the manufacturer, but the owner still hasn’t been identified.
“Police often get reports of lost items, but this is certainly unique,” said Sgt. Neil Tremblay of the North Battleford RCMP. “We would very much like to return this urn to whom it belongs.”
Police say the urn doesn’t have an inscription, but does have some unique features.
North Battleford RCMP are not releasing a full description or pictures of the urn so that when someone does come forward, they can describe the features and police can ensure it is being returned to the right place.
