8:30 – Saskatchewan is experiencing a very bad year for agriculture, with the lack of moisture and heat leaving most crops (and producers) extremely stressed. According to the most recent crop report, only about half of crops are at their normal stage of development, and only 8% of the province has enough topsoil moisture. But is this the worst year Saskatchewan has seen? To provide some historical perspective and compare 2021 to other bad years like 1988 and 2002, John is joined by Les Henry, farmer, former professor at the University of Saskatchewan, and columnist for Grainews.
LIVE: J.L. (Les) Henry, farmer, former prof. and extension specialist at U of S, Grainews columnist, author of “Henry’s Handbook of Soil and Water.”
