More than half a million Saskatchewan residents are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
There were 8,348 doses administered in the province in the latest reporting period, with 7,393 of those second doses. That increased the number of people who have received two doses to 501,464.
The total number of shots given in the province rose to 1,233,534.
The number of active cases reported Tuesday was 313, the lowest total in Saskatchewan since 299 were reported on Oct. 16.
There also were 14 new cases announced, the fewest in a day since 10 were reported on Oct. 7.
One new death was reported today in the 30-to-39 age group. The individual was from the northwest zone. It is the first death reported in Saskatchewan since June 29.
No new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Saskatoon for the first time since Oct. 1.
The seven-day average of 28 is the lowest since Oct. 13, when the number was 27.
A look at the numbers
There were 1,549 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Monday. In the province, 925,232 COVID-19 tests have been processed to date.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan since the start of the pandemic is 48,992.
The new cases reported are located in the far northwest (five), north-central (four), Regina (two), northwest (two) and far north-central (one) zones.
There were 60 recoveries reported, increasing the total to date to 48,110.
There are 62 COVID patients in hospital in the province, with 52 receiving inpatient care. They are in the Saskatoon (24), Regina (11), north-central (eight), northwest (three), south-central (three), central-east (tw0) and southeast (one) zones.
There are 10 patients in intensive care units, in the Saskatoon (four), Regina (three), north-central (two) and northwest (one) regions.
New lineage results were reported for 271 variants of concern Tuesday. Of the 7,515 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in the province, 304 are the Delta variant — an increase of 95 from the previous update.
Vaccination update
In Saskatchewan, 71 per cent of those 12 and older have received their first dose of the vaccine, with 49 per cent of those 12 and older fully vaccinated.
The new doses of the vaccine were administered to residents in the Saskatoon (3,462), Regina (2,842), northwest (701), north-central (309), central-east (189), southeast (185), central-west (119), south-central (99), far northeast (81), northeast (68), southwest (49), far northwest (19) and far north-central (one) areas.
There were 224 doses administered with zone of residence pending.
