Temperature records are once again being broken in Saskatchewan, according to Environment Canada.
Meteorologist Natalie Hasell said as of 3 p.m. Friday, Saskatoon’s record of 33.4 C set in 1986 had been shattered, after the temperature jumped to 38.8 C or 102 F.
In Regina, the mercury reached 34.8 C or nearly 95 F — easily surpassing the old record of 33.9 degrees Celsius set in 1886.
According to Environment Canada, 26 communities in the province set temperature records Thursday.
Heat warnings remained in place across the entire province again Friday.
“Daytime highs will climb into the mid- to upper 30s across the province with overnight lows in the upper teens or low 20s,” the Environment Canada alert said.
“The dangerous heat will stay in place through Saturday, then be followed by a gradual return towards seasonal temperatures on Sunday into Monday.”
