A 15-month-long investigation into human trafficking in Saskatoon has resulted in charges against a 33-year-old man.
The Saskatoon Police Service said Friday a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Ahmed Adam, who’s wanted on charges of trafficking persons, material benefit resulting from trafficking in persons, material benefit from sexual services, procuring, material benefit from sexual services provided by a person under 18, procuring a person under 18, and advertising sexual services.
Under the Criminal Code of Canada, anyone who “recruits, holds, conceals or harbours a person who offers or provides sexual services for consideration, or exercises control, direction or influence over the movements of that person” can be charged with procuring.
According to police, investigators from the vice unit became aware in July of 2019 of a man who was involved in sex trafficking.
The investigation determined there was an underage victim in Saskatoon. The victim and Adam knew each other, but police believe there may be other victims.
Adam could be in Saskatoon, but police say he has ties to other communities in Western Canada, including Calgary and Edmonton. He’s described as being 6-foot-3 and 195 pounds.
Anyone with information on Adam’s whereabouts is asked to call their local police service.
