More Pfizer vaccine has arrived in Saskatchewan, with doses being delivered to Regina, Saskatoon, North Battleford and Prince Albert as well as Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) South, ISC North, ISC North Battleford, Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) Prince Albert, and pharmacies.
Saskatchewan was shipped 63,180 Pfizer doses as the age eligibility dropped to 12.
Thousands more vaccines were administered. Saskatoon had the largest number of the 4,777 doses given at 966. Other zones giving shots were Regina (877), northwest (487), central-west (450), southeast (408), central-east (365), north-central (351), northeast (310), south-central (178), far northwest (124), southwest (120), far northeast (22) and far north-central (one).
There were 118 doses given to people for whom their hometowns are being determined.
Saskatchewan has now given a first dose of vaccine to 75 per cent of those 40 years old or over. Among those 18 and older, 60 per cent have their first dose.
Second doses are available to anyone who is 85 and older or who received their first dose before Feb. 15 as well as those who received an eligibility letter because they are receiving cancer treatment or are the recipient of an organ donation.
COVID CASES AND HOSPITALIZATIONS
There are 146 new cases, spread between the Saskatoon (52), Regina (26), central-east (18), southeast (12), south-central (eight), north-central (11) and northwest (10) zones. Two cases each are in the far northwest, far northeast and southwest. Two cases are in people for whom their hometowns are being determined.
The number of active cases has dropped again. There are 147 new recoveries and active cases are at 1,785. The seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases is 169 or 13.8 new cases per 100,000.
Hospitals are caring for 138 patients with COVID. Of those, 112 are receiving inpatient care in Saskatoon (44), Regina (42), northwest (seven), north-central (seven), central-east (five), south-central (three), southeast (three) and southwest (one).
Intensive care units are caring for 26 patients in Regina (15), Saskatoon (nine) and north-central (two).
No one has died of COVID since the last update.
