Saskatoon police have released a short audio recording they’re hoping will help in their investigation to find 30-year-old Megan Gallagher.
Gallagher was last seen on a video at a convenience store around 6 a.m. on Sept. 20 in the 3700 block of Diefenbaker Drive. She was wearing a black Cabella’s hoodie, black pants and a blue shirt. Her disappearance is now a murder investigation.
Staff Sgt. Grant Obst says a female used Gallagher’s phone at 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 21, nearly 24 hours after Gallagher was last seen.
The woman can be heard calling for a cab to pick her up on Weldon Avenue, near an industrial area on Saskatoon’s west side. A man’s voice can also be heard on the recording. Obst says the woman on the phone is not Gallagher.
“The woman’s voice … is distinctly different from Megan’s,” he said. “Investigators have met with the Gallagher family and have confirmed that that is in fact not Megan.”
The pair heard in the recording were then dropped off at an apartment building in the 100 block of Avenue P South, just behind St. Paul’s Hospital.
Obst says police have gone through Megan’s phone records and they got the audio recording from a cab company. Officers want to know who the people with the phone were. You can hear the audio recording here.

“We would like to know how they came into possession of that phone,” Obst added.
He said police have spent a lot of time in both locations.
“We’ve talked to numerous people. However, we’re convinced there are people out there that know things about Megan’s disappearance and need to talk to us,” Obst said.
That’s echoed by Megan’s dad, Brian. He says he was surprised to learn about the audio recording, but any new piece of information is welcome news.
“It’s a little bit of hope,” he said.
He’s urging anyone who may know where his daughter is and what happened to her to contact Saskatoon police or the RCMP right away.
“Please speak up. The worst thing in the world here is the silence, because we believe that people — somebody knows something somewhere — and if they’re keeping it to themselves, that’s just wrong. You need to speak up,” he said.
Obst says police are hopeful someone will know who the two people are on the audio recording.
