8:30 – Students will be back in classrooms today, but the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation is continuing to call for online learning and increased COVID-19 measures, even if it means short-term challenges. Education Minister Dustin Duncan joins Gormley with an update on the situation in Saskatchewan’s schools, and to share his thoughts on the teachers’ union’s calls for online schooling to continue.
LIVE: Dustin Duncan, Saskatchewan education minister.
9:00 – The Hour of the Big Stories… Open Session
10:00 – Regina Police Chief Evan Bray joins Gormley for our monthly update on crime and policing in the Queen City, and we’ll find out Chief Bray’s thoughts on additional police oversight in Saskatchewan.
LIVE: Evan Bray, Chief of the Regina Police Service.
10:45 – There are more than 4,000 charities active around Saskatchewan, and we’re embarking on a new project to feature some of the great people doing great work in this province during a brand-new segment we like to call “The Best of Saskatchewan.” May 3 marks the start of National Hospice Week, so this week we’re catching up with Prairie Hospice Society to learn more about the care they offer for those approaching the end of their lives.
LIVE: Dr. Vicki Holmes, co-chair of the Prairie Hospice Society.
11:00 – COVID can rob you of your sense of taste, but can it rob you of your fashion sense as well? Crocs, arguably the ugliest footwear trend of all time, are making a big comeback during the pandemic, probably due to the diminished time we spend in the office and attending social events. Gormley owns Crocs, but only wears them for housework and refused to be seen in public without proper shoes on. Is there ever an excuse for wearing Crocs in public? Call 1-877-332-8255 and let us know!
12:00 – Researchers at the University of Saskatchewan are working to uncover the long-term effects of COVID-19 on the human body. Dr. Jake Pushie, who usually studies strokes at the College of Medicine’s Saskatchewan Cerebrovascular centre, has now turned his attention to COVID research, and he joins Gormley to share what they’ve learned so far.
LIVE: Jake Pushie, Research Associate at the University of Saskatchewan.
