Saskatchewan is getting a taste of summer to kick off the weekend, as daily high temperatures hover around or above the 20 C mark.
Many are taking advantage of the warm weather by grabbing a cold beverage.
Peter Shields, the taproom supervisor at Minhas Sask Distillery, Winery and Brewery, said the store gets quite busy on hot spring days.
“The hot days definitely bring the people in for cold beverages. Now that we’re serving cold beer, that’s even better,” he explained.
“It’s amazing. It’s fun. It’s exciting. The people are all happy because they’re coming in for their refreshments, (so) it’s a great time.”
Shields shared a few ideas for drinks that hit just right while relaxing outdoors on a hot day.
For one, he recommended mixing coconut rum with pineapple juice and a bit of grenadine.
“You can feel like you’re on a vacation out in your backyard,” he said.
Another recommendation he had is pre-mixed peach bellini with a little something extra.
“That’s really good blended with some frozen peaches,” he said. “It’s absolutely amazing.”
However, he said the most popular summertime item is grapefruit radler, an extra light beer mixed with juice.
The heat wave won’t last for too much longer. In both Regina and Saskatoon, the high temperature is forecast to drop to the single digits on Monday. It will then warm up later in the week.
