Brett Favre made headlines over the last week when he plainly stated that he wants to keep politics out of sports.
Well, sorry, Brett, but that ship has sailed. Tuesday was a major moment as there was justice in George Floyd’s murder. Former police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty on all three charges in the murder of Floyd.
And the sporting world came out strong showing their support for Floyd’s family while also relieved that justice was served. If you think it’s much ado about nothing, well, I’m sorry, but there was a reason this seemingly open-and-shut case didn’t feel that way for those who have lived injustice their entire lives.
So there we were again as SportsCentre turned into a news program for the first five minutes on George Floyd and the reaction.
If you’re like Brett Favre, you may have turned it off and that’s entirely up to you.
But I know I’d rather have my sports news talk about athletes fighting for change rather than those headlines about Brett Favre sending unsolicited photos of his manhood to sideline reporters.
