The bodies of two snowmobilers reported missing near Stanley Mission have been recovered.
On Tuesday morning, the RCMP said Richard McKenzie had been found dead in the water Monday evening. Later Tuesday, the Mounties reported the body of Cindy Roberts had been found in the water by the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team.
Another woman’s body was recovered Monday.
According to the RCMP, the three people left Grandmother’s Bay on two snowmobiles Saturday at around 9:30 p.m., heading for Stanley Mission.
Grandmother’s Bay Search and Rescue found snowmobile tracks leading into open water outside of Grandmother’s Bay. The Mounties said ice conditions in the area were poor due to the spring weather and there was concern the snowmobiles may have broken through the ice.
