Residents of an apartment complex in the College Park neighbourhood were evacuated Saturday morning due to a fire on the roof and deck of the top floor.
The Saskatoon Fire Department was called to the 3800 Block of Chaben Place at around 11:20 a.m. after a person noticed a fire on the exterior of a top-floor deck and roof, according to a news release.
Five trucks, an ariel unit and the battalion chief were dispatched to the fire. Crews soon noticed the fire extended to other decks in the building.
Crews were able to contain and extinguish the fire 12 minutes after receiving the call with no injuries reported. A fire investigator is on the scene. No cause, origin or damage estimate will be reporter until after the investigator completes his work.
