A record number of COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered in Saskatchewan on Wednesday.
There were 10,437 new vaccinations reported Thursday, increasing the total so far to 244,646.
The latest shots were given in the Saskatoon (3,364), Regina (1,822), northeast (1,444), north-central (925), northwest (924), central-east (791), southeast (503), southwest (207), central-west (102), south-central (75), far northwest (34), far northeast (21) and far north-central (two) zones.
There were 223 doses administered with zone of residence pending.
A look at the numbers
The 205 new cases reported Thursday increased the provincial total to date to 35,376.
Regina had the highest number of new cases again at 91. There were also new cases reported in the Saskatoon (32), southeast (23), south-central (21), central-east (nine), southwest (six), northeast (five), far northeast (four), far northwest (four), north-central (four), northwest (three), central-west (one) and far north-central (one) zones.
The hometown of one case is pending. Three cases with pending residence information have now been determined to be people from the Regina zone.
Two more Saskatchewan residents have died due to COVID — one in the 70-to-79 age group from the southeast zone and an individual in the 80-and-over age group from the Saskatoon zone. The death toll now stands at 447.
The seven-day average of daily new cases is 226, or 18.5 per 100,000 population.
There were 118 new cases of variants of concern identified through screening in Saskatchewan, increasing that total to 2,948. Regina’s total increased by 121 to 2,107, far and away the highest in the province.
There were 200 recoveries reported Thursday, increasing that total so far to 32,788. The active caseload stands at 2,141, with 1,033 of those in the Regina region.
There are 165 people receiving inpatient care in Saskatchewan hospitals and 41 in intensive care. The ICU cases are in the Regina (25), Saskatoon (seven), north-central (four), south-central (two) and central-east (three) regions.
The 3,151 tests processed in the province on Wednesday hiked that total so far to 693,601.
