'Considering the circumstances ... this is best-case scenario,' Cole Cusitar said.
A home on the 1800 block of 22nd Street West has significant damage after a fire tore through it early Friday morning.
Saskatoon police spotted the blaze and contacted firefighters around 2:15 a.m.
When crews arrived the home was up in flames.
They quickly extinguished the fire on the main floor and found smoke coming up from the basement as well.
By 2:49 a.m. it was deemed under control.
An investigation into the cause determined it is suspicious with multiple start points.
Damage is estimated at $50,000.
