The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is raising concerns about COVID-19 variants in three Saskatoon schools.
Outbreaks were declared by the SHA at Brevoort Park School and Tommy Douglas Collegiate, according to a release from Saskatoon Public Schools.
“The SHA has identified the most recent cases at both schools as probable COVID-19 variants of concern,” the release said. “The SHA is encouraging all students and staff members to get tested. Testing information and referral forms have been provided to both school communities.”
Classes at both schools will continue as scheduled on Wednesday and Thursday before the Easter break begins on Friday.
Meanwhile, Bethlehem Catholic High School is also dealing with a new case which the SHA suspects could be a variant as well.
“We are working with Public Health to notify parents and caregivers. SHA recommends that all close contacts get tested. Risk of exposure for anyone not considered a close contact remains low,” said a statement from Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools.
It said the affected cohort will switch to online learning.
