Most of Saskatchewan’s major highways were open to traffic Tuesday after a stress-filled Monday.
As of 10:30 a.m., the Trans-Canada Highway was open from the Alberta border to the Manitoba border — although lanes were closed west of Regina due to a pair of collisions.
Just before 8 a.m., the eastbound Trans-Canada from the junction with Highway 19 to Rush Lake was down to one lane following a collision seven kilometres east of Morse. That collision was cleaned up by noon.
There also was a multi-vehicle collision 10 kilometres west of Chaplin that was affecting traffic in the westbound lanes. Police said a local detour was in place.
The only other major roads with issues were highways 2 and 15.
The Highway Hotline said travel was not recommended on Highway 2 from the junction of Highway 5 south to Liberty due to ice, snow drifts and blowing snow. Travel also wasn’t recommended on Highway 15 between highways 2 and 20.
Those restrictions were lifted by noon.
