People in Saskatchewan aged 60 and over can book COVID-19 vaccination appointments starting Wednesday morning.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority made the announcement Tuesday, dropping the eligibility from 62 years old to 60. The change takes effect Wednesday at 8 a.m.
People aged 60 and over can book a vaccination online 24/7 using their health card here or by calling 1-833-SASKVAX (1-833-727-5829) between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11 p.m.
People between the ages of 50 and 59 living in the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District can make appointments by phone, but not online. Residents of that area who are 60 and over can use the online booking system.
All remaining Phase 1 health-care workers also can book their vaccination by phone.
People with underlying health conditions who are considered clinically extremely vulnerable have been identified by their health-care team and will receive a letter of eligibility in the mail. The letter is required in order to book an appointment.
Members of that group can’t book online unless they’re 60 or older and have not yet booked an appointment. They can call for an appointment.
As well, the SHA is communicating with group homes for persons with intellectual disabilities, shelters and other congregate living facilities to discuss options for immunization.
Vaccination clinics changed
A shipment of Moderna vaccine slated to arrive in Saskatchewan last week was delayed, which has prompted the SHA to change the dates of some vaccination clinics.
A list of those changes can be found here.
