More than 20 infrastructure projects in Saskatchewan got the financial green light Tuesday.
The Canadian and Saskatchewan governments announced they jointly were putting up more than $33 million to fund 26 projects in the province.
The feds are providing upwards of $21 million, with the province contributing more than $12 million. Municipal governments and other donors also are putting up more than $12 million.
The projects include a new arena for the Big River First Nation and an arena/multi-use facility for the town of Assiniboia.
There also are new or upgraded pools for Ogema, Hudson Bay and Lanigan, parks and play structures in Craven and Delisle, water and wastewater projects in Edenwold, Hudson Bay and Duck Mountain Provincial Park, and bridges in the RMs of Porcupine and Preeceville.
“The Government of Canada is taking decisive actions to help create jobs and support our economy,” Jim Carr, the federal government’s Special Representative for the Prairies, said in a media release.
“These projects in Saskatchewan will provide better access to community amenities such as playgrounds and swimming pools, update sewage systems and provide reliable, efficient water services.
“Canada’s infrastructure plan invests in thousands of projects, creates jobs across the country, and builds cleaner, more inclusive communities.”
