CFL fans — well, at least this one — are growing tired of the yo-yo of optimism about a season.
Is this deja vu, only to be let down one more time by the positive-speak coming from the top of the CFL?
Commissioner Randy Ambrosie is a lot more direct than he was last year about playing in 2021. He told the Green Zone that the league is planning on playing and will find a way to play.
However, he also says it’s “nearly impossible” for teams to play without fans.
That’s where CFL fans join in the chorus of boos toward the federal government and its inability to secure the millions of vaccines necessary to have a chance to have fans in the stands by summer.
Let’s be honest: Our public health officers are much more hesitant and cautious than what we’ve seen in some states in the U.S. with allowing fans in the stands.
So with that, are we all left to trust the federal government’s promise of vaccines by the end of September? We were waiting for funding from the feds last year and now vaccines this year.
It’s at the point where I expect to start waking up to Sonny and Cher every morning.
