On the same day where four people died with the virus, active COVID cases rose slightly in Saskatchewan.
In a news release Sunday, the Ministry of Health reported two deaths in the 60-69 age group in the northwest area and two in the 70-79 age group. Of the latter, one individual was in Regina, with the other in the south-central region.
Since last March, there have been 368 coronavirus deaths in the province.
There were also 182 new cases, along with 110 recoveries. Those figures bumped up the active caseload to 1,670.
The seven-day average of daily new cases is now 153, or 12.5 cases per 100,000 people.
The new cases are located in the far northwest (11), far north-central (two), far northeast (22), northwest (10), north-central (five), northeast (four), Saskatoon (48), central-west (two), central-east (seven), Regina (56), south-central (five), southwest (one) and southeast (one) zones. Eight new cases are pending residence information.
The locations for four previously reported cases were assigned to the north-central (two), northwest (one) and far north-central (one) areas.
There are 176 people in hospital. Of those, 13 are in intensive care in the Saskatoon (eight), Regina (two), northwest (one), north-central (one) and central-east (one) regions.
Since the pandemic hit Saskatchewan, there have been 27,620 total cases and 25,578 recoveries.
There were 2,186 tests processed Saturday, raising that total so far to 559,078.
Vaccination update
Health-care professionals administered 2,428 vaccine doses in Saskatchewan on Saturday, increasing the total so far to 60,743.
Those doses were given in the northwest (116), Saskatoon (422), central-east (482), Regina (534) and south-central (874) zones.
Two extra doses were accidentally reported Friday. Those have been removed from the central-east area’s total.
