Saskatchewan reported 124 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday.
According to the Ministry of Health’s daily update, the active caseload in Saskatchewan dropped to 1,541 Wednesday.
Five people who previously tested positive for COVID-19 have died, increasing the provincial total to 362 to date.
The latest deaths were: a person in their 30s from the Saskatoon zone, an individual in their 50s from the Regina zone, and three people in the 80-and-over group — one each from the Regina, Saskatoon and northwest zones.
The new cases reported are located in the far northwest (16), far north-central (four), far northeast (five), northwest (14), north-central (12), Saskatoon (nine), central-west (five), central-east (three), Regina (48), south-central (one) zones. Seven new cases are pending residence information.
The seven-day average of daily new cases is 160, or 13 per 100,000 population. Saskatchewan now has had 26,953 cases since the pandemic began.
There were 189 recoveries reported on Wednesday. The recoveries reported increased that total to date to 25,050.
The number of hospitalizations in the province dropped to 178, down from 184 on Tuesday.
Twenty-three people are in intensive care, with 12 in the Saskatoon area, eight in the Regina region, two in the north-central area and one in the central-east region.
There were 1,800 tests processed Tuesday, increasing the total to date to 549, 077.
Vaccination update
Health-care professionals administered 271 vaccine doses in Saskatchewan on Tuesday, increasing the total so far to 50,326.
The 271 doses were administered in the far northwest (41), far north-central (19), far northeast (11), northeast (155), north-central (35), and central-east (10) zones. The far northwest zone has reported an additional 214 doses administered last week.
There are 877 doses left in the far north zones, which will accommodate second dose schedules. The province expects these second doses to be administered by Feb. 25.
The province said this week’s 12,870 Pfizer doses are expected to arrive in Regina and Saskatoon on Feb. 17. Yorkton, Swift Current, and North Battleford will receive shipments on Thursday.
