Three more people in Saskatchewan have died according to updated COVID-19 information from the province.
The government said information provided on Tuesday also provided more details from Monday, when limited data was provided due to Family Day.
In its daily update, the Ministry of Health said there were 136 new cases. On Feb. 15, there were 265 recoveries and then another 264 on Tuesday. That dropped the active caseload in Saskatchewan to 1,611.
But according to the federal government, Saskatchewan’s rate of active cases as of Thursday was 164 per 100,000 population — the highest-such figure in the country. Quebec was next at 129, followed by Alberta (124) and Manitoba (115).
The three deaths reported Monday increased the total in Saskatchewan to date to 357.
The latest fatalities were a person in their 40s from the Far North West zone, an individual in the 80-and-over age group from the Far North West zone and one person in their 50s from the North West zone.
The new cases reported Monday and Tuesday were in the Far North West (22), Far North Central (five), Far North East (10), North West (44), North Central (22), North East (17), Saskatoon (69), Central West (nine), Central East (nine), Regina (62), South Central (four) and South East (two) zones.
The residence information of four cases is still being determined.
The seven-day average of daily new cases is 167, or 13.6 per 100,000 population. Saskatchewan now has had 26,829 cases since the pandemic began..
On Feb. 15, there were 265 recoveries reported. On Feb. 16 there were 264 recoveries reported.
The recoveries reported increased that total to date to 24,861
The number of hospitalizations in the province rose to 184. That includes 20 people in intensive care, with 10 in the Saskatoon area, eight in the Regina region, one in the North Central and Central East regions.
Amount of tests reported has increased the total to date to 547, 277.
Vaccination update
Health-care professionals administered 22 vaccine doses in Saskatchewan on Monday, increasing the total so far to 49,841.
The 22 doses reported were administered in the North East zone. The South East zone has reported an additional 10 doses administered on February 12.
Due to Family Day, there is a delay in reporting vaccination numbers from Monday.
