Super Bowl 55, believe it or not, was the most lopsided win of Tom Brady’s Super Bowl career.
And it wasn’t even close.
Why?
The defence.
I said last week, the way to a Tampa Bay Buccaneers victory wasn’t a shootout against the Kansas City Chiefs but to pressure Patrick Mahomes and make his life miserable. And that the Bucs did.
From the get go, Mahomes was left scrambling and in the end desperate throws were all he had because his offensive line couldn’t hold back anybody all game. Over half the time Mahomes dropped back to pass, he was pressured, hurried, hit or sacked.
The Bucs did it to Aaron Rodgers. They did it to Drew Brees and they did it again on Sunday.
Brady’s first half was outstanding but the MVP of that game wasn’t Tom. The ‘P’ should have stood for the plural “players” and given to every defender who lined up on Sunday.
