Saskatchewan’s COVID-19 cases dipped on Saturday to 258 new cases, after seeing the highest single-day total of new COVID-19 cases in the past two weeks on Friday.
Despite the decrease in cases, the province saw eight deaths related to the coronavirus on Saturday.
One reported death was in the 60 to 69 age group from the north-central zone; three reported deaths were in the 70 to 79 age group from the central-east (one), far northeast (one) and Saskatoon (one) zones; and four reported deaths were in the 80+ age group from the north-central (one), Regina (one) and Saskatoon (two) regions.
The province’s new cases are located in the far northwest (10), far north-central (six), far northeast (20), northwest (40), north-central (26), northeast (14), Saskatoon (45), central-west (one), central-east (nine), Regina (53), southwest (five), south-central (two) and southeast (18) zones, as well as nine cases having a pending location.
There were 11 adjustments made to case counts on Saturday.
One case of COVID-19 from Dec. 6, 2020, in the far northeast was deemed to be an out-of-province resident and removed from the case counts.
Three cases were deemed to be Saskatchewan residents tested out of province and added to the case counts. All three were from the far northeast including one on Jan. 18, and two on Jan. 19.
Seven cases with pending residence information were assigned to regions throughout the province including the far northwest from Jan. 28 (one), far north-central Jan. 28 (one), northwest Jan. 26 (one), Jan. 28 (two), north-central on Jan. 28 (one) and central-west on Jan. 28 (one).
There are currently 206 people with COVID-19 in hospitals around the province.
Out of the hospitalizations, 178 people are receiving inpatient care in the far northwest (four), far northeast (one), northwest (15), north-central (26), northeast (three), Saskatoon (70), central-east (thirteen), Regina (40), south-central (one) and southeast (five) zones.
There are 28 people in intensive care in the northwest (three), north-central (one), Saskatoon (12), central-east (two), and Regina (10) regions.
In total, there are 2,523 active cases of COVID-19 throughout the province.
There were 148 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered yesterday in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 35,239.
The vaccine doses were administered in the far north-central (21), Saskatoon (66), central-east (22) and north-central (39) zones.
