SGI customers warned about email scam

SGI is warning its customers that they are being targeted through an email scam.

In a news release, SGI says the scammers send emails to their targets, asking them to provide a photo or scan of their driver’s licence.

“If you get a request like that, take steps to verify that the request is coming from a trusted source before providing any personal information. Be sure to use publicly listed contact information, not a phone number or email address included in the suspect email,” states the release.

SGI says if you have given information to somebody who should not have it, contact police and follow advice suggested by the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
