Edmonton is now not only looking for a new name but a new head coach.
The football team is now without Scott Milanovich. He lasted 13 months and coached a total of zero games.
But can anyone blame him for leaving? He’s getting another job in the National Football League and he actually gets to coach.
Coaches love the long hours, the strategy, the film, the practices. It’s what they love to do and Milanovich has done nothing but do the administrative side of coaching for 13 months without actually coaching. COVID-19 took the CFL season away.
And let’s be straight: As “optimistic” as the commissioner is about playing in 2021, Milanovich clearly isn’t wanting to wait around. And why should he? The NFL will be back in August with training camps and he knows he’ll actually get to coach.
The CFL is lacking the confidence within its own fan base that the league will play this season and now, even a head coach took the first exit.
But the positive news: There will be more than enough coaches hitting up the team’s executive to get an interview, even if they do it on Twitter, like our old friend Chris Jones.
