It takes a lot of ice to build an igloo, which led to one Langenburg family having a pretty cool time building one in their yard.
Jeff and Jessica McDonald, along with their sons Maddox and Owen, built the six-foot-tall ice structure to take advantage of the warmer-than-average temperatures.
It’s made of more than 200 blocks of ice, dyed with food colouring.
They made the blocks by filling baking tins usually used for bread with water and dye, then freezing them.
The interior is also completely lit up with two LEDs.

“It’s literally just like brick-laying, but with snow, ice and lots of water,” Jeff said with a laugh.
It took them 16 days and about 60 hours of works to finish the project.
In these coronavirus times, McDonald had a blast spending so much time outdoors with his family. His niece and nephews were even able to stop by and help on some days.
Just like many other areas of the province, Langenburg — located about 70 kilometres southeast of Yorkton — had a long streak of mild weather to start off 2021.
“That made it even better, working outside in that,” McDonald said.
It also has been quite the attraction to the other residents in the town of just over 1,000 people.
“The amount of people that come look at it, it just makes it that much more worth it … There have been tons of people coming to see it. That’s the idea, right? It started for the kids, but now it’s for everyone,” he said.
“Even with these COVID issues, it’s something that everybody can drive by or walk by, see and enjoy.”
