The NHL and their players are reading from the same playbook when it comes to selling the season.
They’re here for you hockey fans.

Connor McDavid also played the “doing for the fans” card when asked about travelling from province to province while their province and others are in strict lockdowns.
But they’re also gathering television revenue, ad revenue, more ad revenue with helmet and divisional sponsorships. And they keep their league relevant.
That’s where you, the fans, come in. They need you watching and engaging and sticking around so you’ll buy tickets when they come back.
But don’t think this is some sort of charity for the NHL to give you hockey no matter how many times they tell you so.
