Watching the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills both win on Wild Card Weekend gives me a sense of jealousy.
I feel great for the long-time fans of both organizations who have been laughed at for generations. The Bills’ last playoff win was in 1995; the Browns was in 1994.
Now they’ve dusted off their 25- and 26-year droughts and have a ton of hope that more wins are ahead.
So why am I jealous? Because I’m a Raiders fan. While their playoff win drought isn’t yet 20 years, it’s getting close.
In fact, their playoff win drought will hit two decades this time next year. Only fans of the Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins have watched a longer playoff victory drought than the Silver and Black.
Sigh. That is not good company to keep.
But for the Bills Mafia and the Dawg Pound, we say a job well done. It’s the sign of a true fan, one who sticks in through the bad times and the worse times, because it’ll make the good times feel that much better.
