The New York Giants are whiners.
Pull the wambulance up to Metlife Stadium and treat them all for hurt feelings. Yes, a 6-10 team has the gall to blame Doug Pederson for their woe of missing the playoffs.
The head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles pulled Jalen Hurts for four-year veteran Nate Sudfeld in the fourth quarter of a meaningless game Sunday for the Eagles. Yes, it was very meaningful for the Eagles’ competition, Washington, and for the Giants watching at home, who needed the Eagles to win.
There were other curious decisions but Pederson’s job is to do what is best for the Eagles, not the Giants. And if he wanted a chance to evaluate Nate Sudfeld before the season was over in a meaningful situation, that’s his choice.
So save your sanctimonious rants that Pederson hurt the integrity of the game. Why? Pittsburgh rested a bunch of starters against Cleveland in a very important game in the AFC playoff race. Did the Steelers hurt the integrity of the playoff race? No. They were just looking out for what was best for their own team, just like Doug Pederson.
