Saskatoon Police found 18 impaired drivers at a New Year’s Eve check stop Thursday.
The large check stop was set up in partnership with Corman Park Police, Saskatchewan Highway Patrol and Canadian Pacific Police.
Of the 18 impaired drivers, 13 were under the influence of either cannabis or cocaine, according to a news release from police.
The remaining five drivers were under “alcohol-related” impairment. All 18 vehicles were impounded.
Volunteers from the Saskatoon chapter of MADD Canada were also on hand to thank sober drivers and hand out 300 coupons for free pizza and other gifts.
Roughly 350 vehicles were checked in total.
