A cardboard box set alight inside a Saskatoon house resulted in plenty of damage and minor injuries on Sunday.
In a media release, the Saskatoon Fire Department says it was called to a house fire on the 700 block of Trent Crescent in the College Park area. Three fire engines and other personnel saw “light smoke” emanating from the house as they arrived. The fire was put out and crews determined everyone inside the house had gotten out.
The release says their investigation has shown that someone had set a cardboard box on fire in order to dispose of the trash that was collected inside. Apparently the residents couldn’t get the box outside of the house before the fire got out of control.
The damage to the home is estimated at $150,000. One occupant of the house had their hands burned as well.
