A COVID-19 outbreak at the Luther Special Care Home in Saskatoon has claimed two more lives.
The deaths were confirmed on the care home’s website Wednesday afternoon.
Nine residents have now passed away since an outbreak was declared at the home on Nov. 17, and are confirmed by health officials to have been related to COVID-19.
“Families were provided end of life visitation opportunities and our sincere condolences go out to them,” a news release said. “Management and staff of the care home continue to work diligently to contain the virus through extensive infection control protocols.”
Despite the recent deaths, those efforts appear to be paying off.
The current number of active cases has dropped to six from 28 a week ago. The care home said 24 staff members have tested positive for COVID-19 since the outbreak began, but noted only some staff contracted the illness at work.
