Saskatchewan reported a new single-day high of recoveries from COVID-19 on Friday.
According to a media release from the Ministry of Health, there were 387 recoveries. That increased the total since March to 6,853.
The previous high for recoveries in a day was 345, reported Thursday.
For the first time since Dec. 5, there weren’t any deaths reported in Saskatchewan. Twenty people died due to COVID in the previous five days, increasing the total since the pandemic started to 75.
The province also reported 246 new cases Friday, increasing the total since March to 11,475.
The new cases were recorded in the Saskatoon (65), Regina (50), north-central (34), northwest (24), far northwest (19), southeast (14), far northeast (13), northeast (nine), south-central (seven), central-east (six), central-west (three), far north-central (one) and southwest (one) zones.
The seven-day average of new cases in the province was 282, or 23.3 per 100,000 population.
The number of active cases being reported in Saskatchewan fell to 4,547. That included 1,320 in the Saskatoon area, 1,043 in the Regina region and 645 in the north-central area.
The number of people in Saskatchewan hospitals fell to 133, its lowest mark since it was 116 on Dec. 5.
There were 27 people in intensive care, with 11 in Saskatoon, eight in Regina, six in the north-central area and one in each of the southwest and south-central regions.
The 106 individuals receiving inpatient care were in Saskatoon (45), Regina (26), the north-central area (16), the southeast (six), the northwest (six), the northeast (two), the central-east area (two), the far northwest (one), the southwest (one) and the south-central region (one).
The number of health-care workers to have contracted the virus since March rose to 397, an increase of 21 since Thursday’s report. Since the start of the month, 141 health-care workers have tested positive.
There have been 4,037 cases to date in the 20-to-39 age range, 3,013 between the ages of 40 and 59, 2,402 involving people 19 and under, 1,529 from ages 60 to 79, and 489 in the 80-and-over range. The ages of five cases are pending.
The total number of cases comprises 3,436 from the Saskatoon area, 2,417 from the north zone, 2,280 in the Regina region, 1,371 from the south, 1,209 from the far north, and 730 in the central area. The hometowns of 32 cases are pending.
There were 3,497 tests processed in the province on Thursday, increasing Saskatchewan’s total to date to 379,378.
As of Wednesday, Saskatchewan’s per capita testing rate was 236,087 people per million population. The national rate was 327,695 people tested per million population.
